Community Relations Intern – National Camp Erin Campaign

Position Summary: This position will be an integral part of the Camp Erin Team and community relations for The Moyer Foundation’s $10 million Camp Erin Campaign for Kids and will play a key role in the nationwide establishment, branding and growth of Camp Erin bereavement camps.

Availability: Summer/Fall 2008
Hours:  Flexible schedule; Minimum 15 hours/week
Salary: Course Credit / Volunteer

Duties and Responsibilities to include:

  • Communication
    • Assist Camp Erin team with community relations elements of the National Camp Erin Campaign for Kids which includes, but are not limited to:
      • Written and oral communication with MLB community relations, media relations, player advocates, MLB wives groups, etc.
    • Marketing, public relations and promoting awareness of Camp Erin in each new city.
      • Work with PR team to reach reporters; be creative in disseminating information.
      • Facilitate grass roots fundraising opportunities in each city.
  • Conduct a variety of research
  • Administrative assistance as needed

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Pursuing a BA in Marketing, Communications, Psychology or related field plus relevant experience.
  2. Knowledge of and commitment to The Moyer Foundation.
  3. Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  4. Possess a wide degree of creativity and ability to think.
  5. Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills with a positive and professional attitude.
  6. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  7. Proficiency with MS Office applications.
