MLB PITCHER JAMIE MOYER AND CELEBRITY CHEF MARIO BATALI TEAMED UP FOR “SUPER BOWL SUPER BRUNCH” CHARITY EVENT
ON FEBRUARY 6th
Seattle, WA – The Moyer Foundation, founded by Major League Baseball All-Star pitcher Jamie Moyer and his wife Karen, joined together with The Mario Batali Foundation this past weekend and presented “Super Bowl Super Brunch” which was held on Saturday, February 6th at Club 50 in the Viceroy Hotel in Miami, Florida. The event raised over $200,000 to equally benefit both of the Foundations – helping children in need.

The exclusive brunch with 125 guests was hosted by Jamie, Karen, and world renowned chef Mario Batali.  They were joined by honorary celebrity co-chairs, comedian Jimmy Fallon, legendary musician Jimmy Buffett and Chef Emeril Lagasse.  Entertainment was provided by former New York Yankee Bernie Williams.  Also in attendance were former MLB pitcher Jeff Fassero, Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman, Craig Terrill, and winner of the Biggest Loser season four, Bill Germanakous.

“We are honored to have been a part of this special event which had a tremendous turnout and raised a significant amount of money for both of our charities,” said Jamie Moyer, Co-founder of The Moyer Foundation. “Helping children is our first priority and this will make a huge impact with our forthcoming Camp Erin programs.”

The afternoon included a gourmet brunch designed by Mario Batali, wine, specialty cocktails and a “Bloody Mary bar” designed by Ultimat Vodka, cooking demonstrations by Mario, Emeril, and Viceroy Chef Michael Psilakis, silent and live auctions and a live acoustic performance by former New York Yankee Bernie Williams, now an accomplished jazz singer and guitarist.  During the performance, Jimmy Fallon joined Williams on stage for an impromptu performance of Jim Morrison’s “Light my Fire,” which was a definite crowd pleaser.

All of the proceeds from the special event benefited The Moyer Foundation’s Camp Erin™ program and The Mario Batali Foundation. The sponsors at the event included Ernst Benz, Bon Appétit, Barilla America, Inc., Aperol, Ultimat Vodka, Waste Management and Monster Energy.

“There is nothing better than getting together with a few good friends like Jamie, Karen, Jimmy Fallon and  Emeril Lagasse and creating an event where people have a blast, eat great food and also enjoy participating in raising money for our most valuable resource -  the children in the U.S.,” said Mario Batali, founder of the Mario Batali Foundation. “This was the first of many collaborations ‘tween The Moyer Foundation and the MBF.”
