SEATTLE, WA  – The Moyer Foundation, founded by Major League Baseball All-Star pitcher Jamie Moyer and his wife Karen, hosted its Dream Catchers auction Saturday, November 7, 2009 – raising more than $1.2 million to support Camp Erin – the largest, nationwide network of bereavement camps for children who are grieving the loss of a family member or friend. Funds raised at the event benefit the Campaign for Kids a nationwide effort to establish and fund a camp in as many as 60 cities, including additional camps in Washington State.

Patrons bid on once-in-a-lifetime “dream” experiences such as attending the 2010 Olympics with Bob Costas, and VIP passes to the most coveted sporting events such as the World Series and Super Bowl. The highest winning bids went for a VIP-all access trip to the Masters in Augusta and a luxury trip package to Jackson Hole.

The event’s Presenting Sponsor was New York Life Inc. which, earlier this year contributed a $600,000 grant for Camp Erin - the largest corporate commitment received to date.  Several other major, personal commitments were announced at the event, including $500,000 and $100,000 gifts.

“The support people showed at the event was amazing. It shows just how much the community cares about Camp Erin. Especially in these economic times, it means a lot to Karen and me to see people getting involved - not only financially, but  through volunteering and other ways, helping the Foundation bring Camp Erin to more kids here in Washington State and nationwide,” said Moyer

Proceeds from Dream Catchers will help to open new camps in 2010 including one camp in Washington State as well as Anaheim, CA; Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX; Baltimore, MD;; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Kansas City, MO; Milwaukee, WI.

“Everyone at the Foundation is so gratified by the growing support and generosity shown by companies and individuals throughout our community and nationwide. It’s truly astounding.  Most important, events like Dream Catchers will enable us to help thousands of grieving children next year, said Gary Pollock, Executive Director of The Moyer Foundation.
